Katie Broadway is entering her first season as an assistant coach with the women's basketball program after being hired in April of 2015.
Broadway joins the staff after serving in multiple roles at University of Alabama at Birmingham the past two seasons. As Coordinator of Operations this past season, she helped maintain the programs budget, booked travel and lodging for the program, managed social media, and monitored student-athlete academic success. Broadway also produced scouting reports, camp brochures, and helped prepare alumni, donor, and team functions while serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 2013-14 season.
A native of Bethalto, Ill., Broadway played four seasons at Illinois State University. She set a single season school record with 89 three-pointers as a senior and also became the 27th member of the 1,000-point club for the Redbirds in her final collegiate season. A team captain and two-time All-Conference honoree, Broadway helped lead Illinois State to two regular season Missouri Valley Conference championships, and four appearances in the NIT, including semifinal appearances each of her first three seasons.
Off the court, Broadway served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Illinois State, and was an active volunteer with multiple organizations, including the State Farm/Missouri Valley Conference Just Read Program, the Community Cancer Center in Bloomington, Ill., and Relay for Life and Race for a Cure events. She was also the recipient of the Jill Hutchinson Leadership Award.
A four-year starter at Civic Memorial High School, Broadway was a four-time All-Conference selection, and an All-State honoree as a senior. She was a two-time Alton Telegraph Player of the Year, three-time Alton Exchange Club Player of the Year, and two-time All-Metro Second-Team honoree by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She ended her prep career as the Eagles’ all-time leader in career points, scoring average, three-point field goals and steals, along with holding school records for points in a single game and points in a single season.Â
