2016 SEASON: Was a redshirt for the Bearcats. 

BEFORE McK: Was a three-year varsity member at Triad High School...registered 89 tackles with 56 solos as a senior for the Knights...led team with six tackles for loss and also forced seven fumbles...was a first-team All-Conference honoree as a senior...also earned All-Area accolades...helped Triad to a nine-win season as a senior.

PERSONAL: Is the son of John, Sr., and Mimi McKinney.
