Biography

2016 SEASON: Named AP Little All-American for the second time in three seasons...selected as the Ron Lenz D2CCA Defensive Player of the Year...collected AFCA Division II All-America accolades...finished third in the national voting for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top interior lineman in NCAA Division II...was also a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, presented to the top defensive player in small college football...was named D2CCA Super Region 4 Defensive Player of the Year...garnered first-team All-GLVC honors for the third straight season...became the all-time leader in quarterback sacks in NCAA Division II history with 46 1/2...recorded his record-breaking sack in the second quarter of the Bearcats' season finale at home against Truman State on Nov. 12...led NCAA Division II in sacks per game at 1.94...had a team-high 17 1/2 sacks in just nine games, falling just half a sack shy of his McKendree single-season record...had three sacks in each of the Bearcats' first three contests and four games overall...also led team with 21 1/2 tackles for loss...had four tackles behind the line of scrimmage against West Liberty on Sept. 10 and at Drake on Sept. 17...was sixth on the team with 55 total tackles...matched a career-high with 12 tackles in the West Liberty game...also added two forced fumbles and five quarterback hurries...was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week following an eight-tackle, three-sack performance against Missouri S&T on Oct. 22...closed his career as the Bearcats' career leader in sacks (46 1/2) and tackles for loss (65 1/2), and is tied for the program's all-time lead in forced fumbles (8)...holds or shares seven McKendree football records.

2015 SEASON: Collected first-team All-GLVC honors for the second consecutive year...posted 39 total tackles, including 22 solos...led team with eight quarterback sacks and was second with 11 1/2 tackles for loss...was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week after a nine-tackle, 4 1/2-sack performance against Southwest Baptist on Oct. 3, both of which were season-highs...had two multi-sack performances...ranked 28th in NCAA Division II in sacks per game (0.80 P/G). 

2014 SEASON: Earned numerous honors for his play in pacing the Bearcats' defense from his left defensive end position...was named as an Associated Press Little All-American (NCAA Division II, III and NAIA players) as well as a first-team All-American by the Beyond Sports Network...collected Defensive Player of the Year honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference...became the first McKendree player to earn the GLVC, AP and BSN accolades while a member of NCAA Division II...was a three-time GLVC Player of the Week honoree (Oct. 18 versus Southwest Baptist, Nov. 1 against William Jewell and Nov. 15 at Quincy)...led NCAA Division II with 18 quarterback sacks and a 1.64 sack-per-game average...set new school and conference records for both sacks and tackles for loss (26 1/2)...also finished third in NCAA Division II in tackes for loss (2.4 P/G)...led the conference in both sacks and tackles for loss...established new team and league records by posting 5 1/2 sacks in the Bearcats' GLVC win at Southwest Baptist...turned in four multi-sack performances during McKendree's season-ending five-game win streak...was third on squad with 65 total tackles...registered career-high 12 stops against William Jewell...also added three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception. 

2013 SEASON: Garnered second-team All-Conference honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference...started at defensive end and registered 24 total tackles with 10 solos...tied for second on team with three quarterback sacks...was third on squad with six tackles for loss...had season-best six tackles at William Jewell and at Truman State...tied for team lead with two forced fumbles, both of which came on sacks.

2012 SEASON: No varsity statistics...was a member of the Academic All-GLVC team.

BEFORE McK: Recorded 46 tackles with 10 quarterback sacks as a senior at Morgan Park High School...was a first-team All-City selection as a senior for the Mustangs...helped Morgan Park to a 10-3 record and a berth in the city championship game in 2010.

PERSONAL: Is the son of Tim and Nicole Baar.
