Brennan spent three years at the University of Louisville. He then finished his playing career at Salisbury University in Maryland. In his senior year, he was named as the conference player of the week, recorded 222 minutes of consecutive shut-out play, and ending the season with 24 saves.

Brennan has been training goalkeepers at Saint Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois for three summers, and will continue as a part time trainer at the club.
