Originally from Bexley, England, Butler Played at Canterbury Christchurch University in England as well as representing Charlton Athletic at academy level. 

Butler has an undergraduate degree in Physical Education & Sports Science, as well as Masters degrees in Education and Sports Studies respectively. 

Butler holds his UEFA B Professional License, FA Level 2 , FA Level 2 Goalkeeping, USC Goalkeeping Level 2, FA Youth Modules 1 & 2, USC Performance Analysis Diploma and PFSA Level 1 in Talent Identification and Performance Analysis in Football.
