Keith Smith joined the McKendree University volleyball staff as a graduate assistant coach in the fall of 2016.
A native of Whittier, CA Smith Smith played professionally for the Orion Volleyball Club in Doetinchem, Netherlands leading the team to a top four finish in the regular season before earning third place in the league playoffs. This Helped earn the club a chance to play in the CEV Challenge Cup (international tournament that requires top four finish in the Dutch league) after the team missed the national tournament the season prior.
Smith was a four year starting setter in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association at Grand Canyon University from 2011-14 making 112 starts in 128 career matches. Smith was a floor captain all four years and helped the Antelopes to a victory over the No. 12 ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State in the 2013 MIVA Tournament. Smith set an NCAA record with 4,484 career assists (in the 25-point game rally scoring era).
Smith graduated from California High School in 2010, leading the Condors to the quarterfinals of the CIF playoffs in 2010, their highest finish in school history. Smith Earned First Team All-CIF honors as well as All-Area Player of the Year, and League MVP.
Smith spent four years with Arizona Fear Volleyball Club in Phoenix, AZ, helping the 18’s team to a bronze medal at the 2014 USAV National Championships. Smith also spent one year coaching at the Revolution Volleyball Academy in Scottsdale, AZ helping the 14 Premier Team qualify for nationals.
