Sam Adams joined the McKendree University volleyball programs as a graduate assistant coach in 2017 for both the men’s and women’s teams.
With Adams' assistance, the women’s volleyball team advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament semifinals to face Rockhurst University in 2017. The team finished the season with an overall record of 23-9 and 16-2 in GLVC competition. Adams' also helped lead the men’s program that went 11-15 last season in 2017 and 6-8 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA).
Adams comes to McKendree from Culver Stockton College where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in finance and mathematics. Before Culver Stockton, Adams attended University of Missouri Columbia for two years from 2012 to 2014.
At Culver Stockton College Adams was a member of the men’s volleyball team as an opposite. Throughout his time there Adams was selected for the 2nd Team All-Conference in 2015 and then 1st Team All-Conference in 2016 as a senior.
Prior to college, Adams attended Saint Louis University High School in St. Louis, Mo., where he graduated in 2012. While in high school Adams played volleyball for the Billikens and was a part of the State Champion team in 2010.
Adams also has club volleyball coaching experience. He has assisted with both the Blue Steel Volleyball Club and with High Performance Volleyball Club.
