McKendree University Athletics

Jamison Wilson became the first McKendree student-athlete to receive Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors. Wilson was named the GLVC Football Defensive Player of the Week based on his performance against Henderson State University on Saturday. McKendree, which is in its provisional year of NCAA Division II membership, started started competition in the GLVC this fall.

From his safety position, Wilson led McKendree with nine tackles, eight of which were solos. He also forced a first-quarter fumble and added two first-half interceptions against the Reddies. Wilson returned his second interception 49 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter. His score gave McKendree its largest lead of the contest at 17-7.
 
The two interceptions for Wilson doubled his career total to four. He had one interception in each of his first two seasons at McKendree. Wilson, who is a two-year starter in the Bearcats' secondary, is second on the team through two games with 14 tackles. He was third on the 2011 squad with 53 tackles.
