(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 20)- The No. 13 McKendree University women's soccer team used two second half goals to defeat NCAA Division II University of Southern Indiana 2-0 on Wednesday night at Leemon Field.

The Bearcats, 13-1-1 overall (7-1 AMC), will travel to Hannibal, Mo., on Saturday for an American Midwest Conference game against Hannibal-LaGrange College at 1 p.m.

McKendree was outshot by the visiting Screaming Eagles in the first half 9-4, but weathered the storm to head into halftime tied 0-0. After a goal by Southern Indiana was waived off due to play starting during a substitution, the Bearcats got on the board in the 69th minute on a goal by junior forward Erin Kilian (St. Louis, Mo.) on a pass from senior midfielder Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill., Glenwood). Junior forward Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) added another goal for McKendree in the 71st minute off a pass by Varns to push the lead to 2-0 and the Bearcts held on to earn the 2-0 win.

Senior goalkeeper Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo., Rosati-Kain) improved to 13-1-1 overall on the season in the shutout win and had six saves.
