(GREAT FALLS, Mont., Dec. 3)- The No. 2 McKendree University wrestling team won their second match of the Battle of the Rockies Duals on Friday night over Montana State University-Northern 26-9.
No. 2 McKendree, 8-1 overall, will face event host and No. 3-ranked University of Great Falls (Mont.) in their final dual on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. (MST).
Senior Wade Lowe (Godfrey, Ill., Alton) earned a 11-1 major decision win over Cameron Neiss at 133 pounds to put McKendree in front 4-0 early and a forfeit win by junior Kyle Williams (Scott Air Force Base, Ill., Mascoutah) at 141 pounds pushed the Bearcats out to a 10-0 lead. A close loss by McKendree senior Ryan Jahn (Bolingbrook, Ill., Bolingbrook), ranked No. 5 at 149 pounds, to No. 3 Anthony Weerheim, 6-5, put the Lights on the scoreboard, but the Bearcats earned three straight wins to jump back out to a commanding 23-3 lead. Redshirt sophomore Kyle Reid (Belleville, Ill., Belleville East), ranked No. 3, lost a 10-5 decision to No. 2 Evan Hinebauch at 184 pounds, but senior Andrew Sanchez (Shiloh, Ill., O'Fallon) earned a 7-2 decision win over Kody Reed to push the Bearcat lead back to 20 points. A loss at heavyweight by Andrew Davis (Loves Park, Ill., Harlem) to No. 3 Rudy Schaffroth ended the dual with McKendree earning a 26-9 win.
