(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 27)- The No. 7 McKendree University women's soccer team held an early 2-0 lead, but gave up two goals and came away with a 2-2 tie after double overtime to Missouri Valley College on Monday night.
The Bearcats, 9-0-1 overall, will host Park University in a key American Midwest Conference matchup on Wednesday, September 29th at 6 p.m. at Leemon Field.
McKendree took an early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward
Carlee Luehmann (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) in the 10th minute and Luehmann scored again in the 39th minute on an assist from junior forward
Erin Kilian (St. Louis, Mo., Kennedy) to give the Bearcats a 2-0 lead. Jesse Yach successfully converted a penalty kick for the Vikings in the 40th minute to make the score 2-1 at the half.
Henny Yngve scored from 35 yards out to the left back post for the Vikings in the 54th minute to even the match 2-2 and neither team found the back of the net in either overtime period to end the game in a 2-2 tie.
Senior goalkeeper
Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain), 9-0-1 overall, played 110 minutes in goal and had six saves in the tie.
