(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 18)--The McKendree University football team will close out its 2011 season Saturday when it plays host to Quincy University at Leemon Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The contest can be heard live on Cardinal Country WIBV (102.1 FM) as well as the Bearcat Sports Network (
www.mckbearcats.com). Joe Zydlo will have the pre-game show beginning at 12:45 p.m.
McKendree will be looking for its second consecutive home victory. Back on Oct. 22 the Bearcats collected their only win of the 2011 season to date with a 24-9 triumph over Trinity International University. The Bearcats enter Saturday's game with a season record of 1-8, while Quincy brings a 4-5 record to Lebanon.
Last week, McKendree was defeated in its final road game of the year by Olivet Nazarene University, 17-13. Quincy dropped a 27-20 decision to Walsh University at home one week ago.
The Bearcats hold a 9-3 edge in the overall series with Quincy, which dates back to the 1997 season. McKendree has won all six meetings with the Hawks at Leemon Field. Last year, the Bearcats overcame a slow start with a 33-point outburst in the second quarter to post a 50-21 victory in Quincy, Ill.
Austin Fisher (Washington, IL/Washington) set a new team record in that game by throwing four touchdown passes.
At the conclusion of Saturday's contest, McKendree will honor its 18 senior football players along with support staff in its annual Senior Day Celebration. The Bearcat Football Senior Class of 2011 was a part of consecutive Mid-States Football Association-Midwest League championships in 2009 and 2010.
