Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill., Rochester) scored four goals and senior midfielder
Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) netted three first half goals for the McKendree University women's soccer team in a 11-0 route of Harris-Stowe State University.
The Bearcats improved to 3-5 overall and will travel to Springfield, Ill., on Monday, September 26th for a match against Benedictine University-Springfield at 5 p.m.
Cassiday scored three of her four goals in the first nine and a half minutes of the game. Her first came in the second minute off an assist by freshman midfielder/defender
Liz Flowers (St. Louis, Mo., Notre Dame), and she followed with her second of the game in the third minute off a double assist by Keomanivane and junior forward
Carlee Luehmann (Granite City, Ill., Granite City). Keomanivane scored an unassisted goal in the fifth minute, and following an own goal by Harris-Stowe in the eighth minute, Cassiday scored her third goal at the 9:29 mark on an assist from Luehmann to record that hat trick and put the Bearcats in a commanding 5-0 lead.
Keomanivane scored her second goal of the game off an assist by Cassiday in the 15th minute, only to return the favor and record the assist on Cassiday's fourth and final goal of the game. Cassiday also provided the assist on Keomanivane's third goal of the half with only four seconds remaining in the period to give McKendree an 8-0 lead at the break.
Freshman midfielder
Lindsey Ledbetter (Smithton, Ill., Freeburg) scored her first collegiate goal in the 50th minute unassisted, and freshman forward
Natalie Crane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) followed with her first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute to give the Bearcats a 10-0 lead. Ledbetter scored her second goal of the game in the 90th minute to make the score 11-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Caroline Fletcher (Des Peres, Mo., Kirkwood) improved to 1-0 on the season and had one save in a half of play. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kayla Morelan (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) played teh second half in goal and did not face a shot. The duo combined to earn the team shutout.
