(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 12)--
The McKendree University football team will be in search of its third consecutive win on Saturday when the Bearcats make the short trip to Quincy, Ill., to face Quincy University in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Flinn Stadium.

McKendree used a big second half to roll past William Jewell College last Saturday at Leemon Field for a 35-20 Homecoming victory. The Bearcats reeled off 29 unanswered points after the visiting Cardinals took a 14-6 lead early in the third quarter. Three rushing touchdowns from Cameron James (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) and a career-high 128-yard rushing effort from Jacob Wagner (Belleville, IL/Belleville West) helped fuel the comeback win, which marked the Bearcats' 17th straight Homecoming triumph. Sherrod Stancil (Naperville, IL/Waubonsie Valley) had three of McKendree's four quarterback sacks in the contest and finished with a career-best 10 tackles.

The Bearcats enter Saturday's contest at 2-4 overall and 2-2 in GLVC action. Quincy is 0-6 on the year and 0-3 in the GLVC following its 34-18 non-conference loss at home last weekend against Saint Ambrose University. Leon Spears had a team-high 90 rushing for the Hawks in the contest.

Quincy is one of just three opponents on the 2012 McKendree football schedule that the Bearcats have faced prior to this season. The Hawks are the most familiar foe as the teams have met 13 times prior to Saturday's tilt. McKendree owns a 10-3 advantage in the overall series, with the Bearcats winning the last three outings. In the 2011 season finale for both teams on Nov. 19, 2011 at Leemon Field, McKendree overcame an early deficit to register a 44-20 victory.

McKendree will have just one more road game left after Saturday's matchup at Quincy. Next Saturday -- Oct. 20 -- the Bearcats will be in Ohio to take on Urbana University in a GLVC contest. After an open date on Oct. 27, the Bearcats will play their final two games of the 2012 season at home -- on Nov. 3 versus Central State University and on Nov. 10 against Saint Joseph's College.
