Men's Soccer Heads West For Two Tough Contests This Weekend

The McKendree University men's soccer team will travel west to the Kansas City-area this weekend for two conference matches.

The Bearcats will play Rockhurst University tonight at 7:30 p.m.  The Hawks enter tonights contest with a record of 9-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 GLVC.

On Sunday, McKendree will head to Liberty, Mo., to face No. 21 WIlliam Jewell College at 2:30 p.m.  The Cardinals are currently 10-2 overall and 8-2 GLVC.

TO THE WEST: McKendree is heading west for its last weekend roadtrip of the season. The Bearcats won both games during its last roadtrip at Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside.

OPENING SCORE: The Bearcats are a perfect 6-0 this season when scoring first in a match. When the opponent scores first, McKendree is 1-5 this season.

SCORE TWO OR MORE: All seven of McKendree's wins this season have come when scoring two or more goals.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Rockhurst enters the weekend with an overall record of 9-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 in the GLVC. The Hawks split its two matches last weekend, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 6-0, on Friday, before losing to Southern Indiana, 3-2, on Sunday. Rockhurst and McKendree have met five previous times, with the Hawks winning four of those matches. The teams have not met since the 1992 season.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: William Jewell enters the weekend ranked No. 21 and has a record of 10-2 overall and 8-2 in the GLVC. The Cardinals swept its two matches last weekend, defeating Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan both by 1-0 scores. McKendree has played William Jewell five times, and holds a 4-1 edge in the all-time series. They have not played since the 2006 season.
