The McKendree University women's soccer team has two tough conference road tests this weekend.
The Bearcats travel to Kansas City, Mo., to face No. 13 Rockhurst University tonight at 5 p.m. The Hawks are currently 10-0-2 overall and 8-0-2 in the GLVC. Tonight is the first meeting between the two teams.
On Sunday, McKendree travels to Liberty, Mo., to face No. 18 WIlliam Jewell College at Noon. The Cardinals are 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the GLVC. McKendree currently holds a 6-3-1 record all-time against William Jewell.
DUDAS NAMED GLVC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Junior goalkeeper
Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) was named conference women's soccer player of the week on Monday. She earned the award after posting two shutouts in two wins last week. It was the first GLVC award won by a McKendree women's soccer player in school history.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Rockhurst enters the weekend ranked No. 13 in the latest NSCAA ranking and a record of 10-0-2 overall and 8-0-2 in the GLVC. The Hawks tied University of Southern Indiana last Sunday, 0-0, in double overtime. Rockhurst has not lost a game since dropping a 3-0 decision to Bellarmine University on November 11, 2011 in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Friday will be the first meeting all-time between McKendree and Rockhurst.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: William Jewell enters the weekend ranked No. 18 in the latest NSCAA ranking and a record of 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the GLVC. The Cardinals have rattled off eight-straight victories since losing, 3-2, to Lewis University on Sep. 14. McKendree and William Jewell have met on the pitch nine previous times, with the Bearcats holding a 6-3-1 advatage in the series. Their last meeting was on Nov. 5, 2007 in the opening round of the NAIA Region Tournament, when McKendree earned a 1-0 victory.
MILESTONE WATCH: Junior forward
Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) is currently in a tie for ninth place with 68 career points, a tie for seventh with eight career game-winning goals, and in sole possession of seventh place with 30 career goals.
