Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 7)- The McKendree University women's soccer team recorded its second-consecutive shutout on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over visiting Drury University.
The Bearcats improved to 6-3-1 overall (4-5-1 GLVC) and will travel next weekend to play a pair of Top 25 conference foes. McKendree travels to Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, Oct. 12 to face No. 12 Rockhurst University at 5 p.m., followed by a match in Liberty, Mo., on Sunday, Oct. 14, against No. 20 William Jewell College at Noon.
McKendree got on the scoreboard early and took a 1-0 lead in the third minute on a goal by junior forward
Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) on as assist by sophomore forward
Natalie Crane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City). The goal was the 30th of Cassiday's career at McKendree, and moves her into a tie for ninth place in the school record books with 68 career points, while also placing her in a tie for seventh place with eight career game-winning goals.
It wasn't until the 85th minute that McKendree struck again, this time on a header goal from freshman midfielder
