The McKendree University wrestling team opens up the 2012-13 season tonight in a dual against Missouri Baptist University. It is the season opener for both squads.
SEASON OPENER: Tonight's dual marks the 2012-13 season opener for the McKendree wrestling squad.
CLASS REUNION: Outside of the local area, the Bearcats have three sets of former high school teammates on the roster.
Jamaree Swan (Perry, Okla./Perry) and
Trent Williams (Stillwater, Okla./Perry) (Perry High School),
Steven Bradtmueller (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) and
Andrew Krawulski (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill) (Collins Hill High School), and
Brenden Murphy (Palos Park, Ill./Marian Catholic),
DaMonte Riley (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic), and
Mark Marianovich (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) (Marian Catholic High School). Murphy, Riley, and Marianovich are reuniting after all wrestling previously at other schools.
COACH KISGEN: Head coach
James Kisgen is entering his 10th season as head coach of the McKendree University wrestling program. Under his guidance, The Bearcats have produced 42 All-American wrestlers, including seven individual national champions.
