BOX SCORE

(LEBANON, Ill., April 28)—
The McKendree University baseball team was defeated at home on Senior Day by Lindenwood University, 5-1.

The Bearcats and Lions were scheduled to play a doubleheader at Hypes Field, but strong storms that rolled through the Metro East area forced the second game to be suspended in the bottom of the third inning. The contest will be resumed on Sunday at Lindenwood University, with the Lions in front by a score of 6-0.

Once the suspended game is completed, McKendree and Lindenwood will play a nine-inning contest. Action will begin at 1 p.m. at the Lou Brock Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

On Saturday, McKendree honored its 10 senior players after the first scheduled contest. The players recognized included pitchers Lucas Blumhorst (Venedy, IL/Okawville), Austin Fisher (Washington, IL/Washington), Kraig Interial (Plainfield, IL/Meridian), Eric Romani (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) and Jake Weibel (Rockton, IL/Hononegah); catchers Brandon Gargus (Manchester, MO/Parkway South) and Jordan Luttrell (Xenia, IL/Flora); infielders Ronnie Calvird (Farmington, MO/Park Hills Central) and Andrew Sparks (Delavan, IL/Delavan); and outfielder Brandyn Snider (Fielden, IL/Jersey Community).

Lindenwood (24-18) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning, with a three-run home run off the bat of Matt Tellor providing the big blow of the frame. The Lions added a run in the third inning before McKendree scored its lone run of the contest. With two outs, freshman infielder Jeffrey Tolliver blasted a 1-1 pitch over the right-center field fence for his sixth home run of the season.

Interial settled down after a tough first inning to register the first complete game of his McKendree career. Interial scattered seven hits with four earned runs. He walked two and struck out seven batters. Zac Pearman tossed a four-hitter in picking up the victory for Lindenwood.
