The men's soccer team will play its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match at home on Friday night when they host the University of Illinois at Springfield Prairie Stars on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
The Bearcats are currently 3-1 overall (1-1 GLVC), while the Prairie Stars are 2-1 overall (1-1 GLVC).
McKendree will return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon to host No. 14 Quincy University at 2:30 p.m. The Hawks are currently 4-0 overall (2-0 GLVC).
WHITE OUT AT LEEMON FIELD: Make sure you wear white to all of the games this weekend at Leemon Field as we host a WHITE OUT Weekend at McKendree. We'll also be handing out a limited quantity of WHITE OUT T-Shirts at the entrance. Come early, as quantities are limited!
FOUR-GAME HOMESTAND: After splitting its first weekend of GLVC play, McKendree will try to get back on track with four straight games at home over the next two weekends.
FIRST GLVC WIN: The Bearcats rebounded after Friday afternoon's loss at Maryville, to defeat UMSL, 2-1, in double overtime on Sunday. Sophomore midfielder
Cody Fritsche (High Ridge, Mo./Lutheran South) scored the game-winner in the 103rd minute to seal the win.
SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE STARS: Illinois-Springfield enters the weekend with a 2-1 record (1-1 GLVC). The Prairie Stars split their opening GLVC weekend, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3-0, before dropping a 1-0 decision to University of Southern Indiana on Sunday. UIS leads the all-time series with McKendree, 13-5-2, but the Bearcats have won five of the last six meetings, including a 3-1 win in their last meeting on Oct. 1, 2008.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Quincy enters the weekend with a 4-0 record (2-0 GLVC) and a No. 14 ranking in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Poll. The Hawks posted two shutouts last weekend, defeating Southern Indiana, 1-0, before dispatching Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday, 5-0. Quincy leads the all-time series between the schools, 7-3-1, but McKendree defeated the Hawks, 2-0, in their last meeting on Sept. 1, 2009.
