The women's soccer team will play its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match at home on Friday night when they host the University of Illinois at Springfield Prairie Stars on Friday evening at 5 p.m.
The Bearcats are currently 2-0 overall (1-0 GLVC), while the Prairie Stars are 2-1-1 overall (1-1 GLVC).
On Sunday, McKendree will welcome No. 19 Quincy University to Leemon Field for a GLVC contest at Noon. The Hawks are currently 4-0 overall (2-0 GLVC).
WHITE OUT AT LEEMON FIELD: Make sure you wear white to all of the games this weekend at Leemon Field as we host a WHITE OUT Weekend at McKendree. We'll also be handing out a limited quantity of WHITE OUT T-Shirts at the entrance. Come early, as quantities are limited!
RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY: The would-be conference opener at Maryville last Friday was postponed at halftime when a severe weather threat moved into the area. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m., at Maryville.
GLVC OPENING WIN: Freshman midfielder
Jordyn Reiniger (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) scored her first two collegiate goals last Sunday in the 4-1 GLVC win at UMSL. Fellow freshman midfielder
Cassie Kaiping (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) and junior forward
Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) also scored in the victory, the first for McKendree in any sport as a member of the conference.
SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE STARS: Friday's home game against University of Illinois-Springfield will be the first time the Bearcats have faced the Prairie Stars since both were members of the NAIA in 2008. The Prairie Stars are currently 2-1-1 overall, with wins over Lindenwood University-Belleville, 4-0, and Kentucky Wesleyan University, 4-0.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Sunday's home game against Quincy University is the first matchup between the schools since a 0-0 tie on Sept. 12, 2007. The Hawks are currently ranked No. 19 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll.
CASSIDAY CLOSING IN: Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) is currently ranked seventh with 27 career goals scored and 10th with 61 career points at McKendree. She is only four goals behind Sara Kelemetc's sixth-place goal total, and seven points behind Jamie Dienell's ninth-place points total.
MILESTONE WATCH: Head Coach
Tim Strange is only two wins away from 200 career women's soccer wins at McKendree. He currently has a career record of 198-52-18 and is the winningest coach in program history.
