Box Score (Lebanon, Ill., Sep. 16)- The McKendree University men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with No. 14 Quincy University on Sunday afternoon, but fell 1-0 to the Hawks in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.
The Bearcats fell to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in GLVC with the loss, and will host University of Indianapolis on Friday, Sep. 21, at 7:30 p.m.
The contest was even for just over 81 minutes, until Quincy's Ethan Venvertloh scored early in the 82nd minute to put the Hawks in front 1-0. The Bearcats had two chances in the final minutes of play, but both were saved by Quincy goalkeeper D.J. Lampert.
McKendree took 16 shots in the contest, placing seven on goal, while the Hawks took 19 shots and had nine in frame.
Freshman goalkeeper
Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) grabbed eight saves, but fell to 3-2 overall in the loss.
