The McKendree University women's soccer team will be very busy with three matches this week. The Bearcats are hoping to bounce back after dropping its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match last Sunday in a 2-0 loss to then No. 19 Quincy University.
The Bearcats will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, Sep. 19 to play a rescheduled conference match against Maryville University at 4 p.m.. The teams were scheduled to open up the conference season against eachother on Sep. 7, but the game was postponed after a half of play due to inclement weather.
McKendree will host two conference matches this weekend. The Bearcats will host University of Indianapolis on Friday, Sep. 21 at 5 p.m., and Saint Joseph's College on Sunday, Sep. 23 at Noon.
DEJA VU: Today's game was set to be the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams on Sep. 7, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Severe thunderstorms moved into the area after a scoreless first half and cancelled the remainder of the game. The match will be restarted.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS: Maryville is entering todays game after splitting its two GLVC games last weekend, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-1, on Friday, before dropping a 6-2 decision at Southern Indiana on Sunday. The Saints are 2-4 overall this season and 1-2 in the GLVC.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS: Indianapolis dropped a 2-1 decision at Drury last Friday, but then ended its four-game skid with a 2-0 win at Missouri S&T on Sunday. The Greyhounds are 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the GLVC this season. Friday's match is the first meeting all-time between McKendree and Indianapolis.
SCOUTING THE PUMAS: Saint Joseph's has dropped four-straight matches, most recently losing 2-0 at Missouri S&T on Friday, followed by a 3-0 loss at Drury on Sunday. The Pumas are 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the GLVC this season. McKendree and Saint Joseph's have one previous meeting all-time, when McKendree earned a 5-2 win in Rensselaer, Ind., on Oct. 12 last season.
