The McKendree University women's soccer team will board the bus and head north this weekend for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference contests.
The Bearcats will step off the bus on Friday night in Romeoville, Ill., for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Lewis University. The Flyers enter tonights contest with a record of 6-2 overall (4-2 GLVC), and are ranked one spot behind McKendree in the NSCAA Midwest Region ranking at No. 7.
McKendree will then travel to Kenosha, Wis., for a 2:30 p.m., contest on Sunday against University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Rangers are 4-3-1 overall (3-3 GLVC) this season.
BEARCATS RANKED SIXTH IN NSCAA MIDWEST REGION: McKendree made school history on Tuesday, September 25 by earning a No. 6 ranking in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Midwest Ranking.
ROAD TRIP: The Bearcats are making their first true road trip this week with games in Romeoville, Ill., and Kenosha, Wis. McKendree's previous road games this season were both in St. Louis, Mo.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS: Lewis enters Fridays game with an overall record of 6-2 and 4-2 in the GLVC, while also trailing McKendree by one spot at No. 7 in the Midwest Region Poll. The Flyers earned two wins last weekend, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 6-1, on Friday, followed by a slim 1-0 win at University of Southern Indiana on Sunday.
SCOUTING THE RANGERS: Wisconsin-Parkside enters the weekend with a 4-3-1 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the GLVC. The Rangers split last weekend, dropping a 2-1 decision in overtime to Southern Indiana on Friday, and defeating Kentucky Wesleyan, 5-1, on Sunday.
MILESTONE WATCH: Junior forward
Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) is currently two points and two goals shy of moving up in the school record books. Cassiday is two points shy of tying Jamie Dienell in ninth place on the career points list, and two goals shy of tying Sara Kelemetc in sixth place in career goals scored.
