The McKendree University wrestling team begins its second semester schedule tonight in a dual match against Lindenwood University at 7 p.m.
RETURN TO THE MAT: McKendree returns to competition this week after a month off for semester break. The Bearcats will compete in four dual matches this week, starting Tuesday night at 7 p.m., for a home match against Lindenwood University. McKendree will travel north this weekend to compete in Somers, Wis., at the Ranger Duals hosted by University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Bearcats will face three ranked opponents in No. 8 University of Findlay, No. 17 Wisconsin-Parkside, and No. 3 St. Cloud State University.
UNBEATENS: Sophomore's
Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln Community) and
Julian Smith (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) both enter the week with perfect 4-0 records in dual competition. Haferkamp is 20-8 overall this season, while Smith is 16-4.
MURPHY AMONG LEADERS: Junior
Brenden Murphy (Palos Park, Ill./Marian Catholic)'s 10 pins and 21 wins this season are both tied for third in all of NCAA II wrestling.
