Box Score (QUINCY, Ill., Oct. 18)- The McKendree University men's soccer team gave Quincy University all it could handle on Friday, but fell 3-2 in double overtime.
The Bearcats fell to 3-9-1 overall and 1-9-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference with the loss, and will travel to Kirksville, Mo., on Sunday, Oct. 20 to face Truman State University at 2:30 p.m.
McKendree took the lead in the 20th minute on a goal by sophomore forward
Joshua Fawssett (Lewes, Sussex, England/Sussex Downs College) to take a 1-0 lead, only for the Hawks to tie the game in the 22nd minute.
Quincy took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute, but a free kick goal by sophomore midfielder
Liam Robley (Lazonby, Cumbria, England/Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) in the 68th minute to knot the game at 2-2.
Neither team could score in the first overtime, but the host Hawks ended the game in the 107th minute with a goal to slip by the Bearcats 3-2.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Matt Derrington (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) fell to 0-2 overall on the seaosn and had six saves in the loss.
