Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 30)- The McKendree University men's soccer team ended its season on Wednesday night with a 5-2 loss to University of Illinois-Springfield on senior night.
The Bearcats end their season with an overall record of 4-12-1 and a 2-12-1 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
McKendree got on the scoreboard quickly by drawing a foul in the box in the second minute. Senior midfielder
Dominique Jones (Washington, Mo./Cape Central) stepped up and converted the penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead. The goal was his first collegiate goal at McKendree.
The Prairie Stars tied the game in the 17th minute on a goal by Nikita Fadeev and the game went into the half tied 1-1.
Illinois-Springfield scored goals in the 48th and 56th minutes to jump out to a 3-1 lead, but an unassisted goal by McKendree's C. J. Cerna late in the 56th minute cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Prairie Stars kept offensive pressure on McKendree and added two goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to end the contest 5-2.
Sophomore
Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) fell to 3-8 overall on the season and had five saves in the loss.
