The McKendree University women's soccer team is playing for an opportunity to make the playoffs tonight at Leemon Field.
The Bearcats host University of Illinois-Springfield on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
SENIOR NIGHT: We'd like to congratulate Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester), Sadie Delashmit (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington), Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South), Allie Hayes (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy), Tara Kennedy (Waterloo, Ill./Gibault Catholic), Kayla Morelan (Granite City, Ill./Granite City), and Chealsey Russell (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) on completing their soccer careers at McKendree tonight. We'd also like to wish them both the best of luck in all their future endeavors.
SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE STARS: University of Illinois-Springfield enters Wednesday night's game with an overall record of 3-14 and a 1-13 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Prairie Stars dropped three straight games, including a 2-0 loss to No. 9 Quincy last Friday, and a 4-0 loss to No. 23 Truman State on Sunday. Junior forward Kim Tokarski leads Illinois-Springfield with eight goals and two assists this season. McKendree leads the all-time series, 3-0, including a 3-2 win on Sep. 14 last season.
PLAYOFF PICTURE: The Bearcats playoff chances are still alive entering tonights game. In order to make the conference tournament, McKendree must win tonight and Southern Indiana must lose its contest at Bellarmine.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) currently ranks in the top 10 at McKendree in multiple career categories. She's ranked third with 11 game-winning goals, is in fifth with 36 goals, and is tied for sixth with 82 points. Senior Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) is currently fourth all-time at McKendree with a 1.18 goals-against average, tied for fifth with 13 wins and is ninth with 113 saves. Sophomore Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) is tied for fifth all-time at McKendree with 13 career wins, sixth with a 1.24 goals-against average, and is ranked 10th with 94 saves.
