(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 15)- The McKendree University wrestling team earned bonus points in four of its victories on Friday night to defeat Truman State University 32-10.

The Bearcats closed out its dual season with an overall record of 5-8, and will make the short trip to Belleville, Ill., on March 2nd to compete at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Regional tournament.

Sophomore Dylon Viglasky (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) opened the dual with a major decision win over J.J. Dorrell at 125 pounds to give McKendree an early 4-0 lead, and junior Brenden Murphy (Palos Park, Ill./Marian Catholic) followed with a tech fall win over Jabez Zinabu, 17-2, at 133 pounds to extend the lead to 9-3.

The Bulldogs rallied and took a 10-9 lead with three straight wins, but the Bearcats won the last five matches to cruise to the win.

Sophomore Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln Community) pinned Dustin McClintock at the 2:46 mark of the first period at 165 pounds to regain the lead, 15-10, and junior Isaiah Gonzalez (Montgomery, Ill./Montini Catholic) earned a 10-3 decision win over Chase Wrisinger at 174 pounds to extend the McKendree lead to 18-10.

Sophomore Luis Alba (Kissimmee, Fla./Cypress Creek) defeated Nate Seiler, 13-9, at 184 pounds to give the Bearcats their first double-digit lead of the night, and sophomore Julian Smith (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) earned an 18-1 tech fall victory over Helmut Rentschler at 197 pounds to push the lead to 26-10.

Senior Zac Weber (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) closed out the dual with a forfeit win at heavyweight to give McKendree the 32-10 win.  (TSU)
