Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 23)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team came away with a victory in its inaugural game on Saturday afternoon over Fontbonne University 16-1.
The Bearcats improve to 1-0 overall and will host Indiana Tech on Saturday, March 2 at Noon.
McKendree scored early and often on its way to a 7-0 lead at the half. Freshman midfield
Sarah Collins (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) scored the first goal in program history 7:31 into the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Shirley Boland (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) followed with the first of her two first-half goals with 16:07 left in the first half to build a 2-0 lead.
Collins struck again on a free position shot at the 12:30 mark, and freshman midfield
Bree Suter (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) scored off an assist by freshman attack
Krysta Swalley (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) at the 8:38 mark to lead 4-0.
McKendree ramped up its offense over the final minute and scored three goals in the final 51 seconds. Suter struck again with 51 seconds left, and Boland buried a shot nine seconds later. Freshman attack
Krystin Major (Arnold, Md./Indian Creek) scored her first collegiate goal with 10 seconds left in the first half.
Suter opened the second half with a goal shortly into the second half, and freshman midfield
Lia Hanenburg (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) scored on an assist by Major at the 26:53 mark to extend the lead to 9-0.

Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) scored her first goal on an assist by Boland at the 22:41 mark, and Suter scored off an assist from Hanenburg 30-seconds later to extend the lead to 11-0.
Holzmeyer scored off an assist by Boland with just over 21 minutes remaining, before Collins scored her third and final goal of the day at the 11:12 mark of the second half.
Hanenburg scored her seocnd goal of the game with 7:33 left, and freshman attack
Katie Hamilton (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) followed with her first collegiate goal at the 5:41 mark to make the score 15-0.
Fontbonne got on the board with 4:43 left on a goal by Paige Pfankuch, but Suter ended the day with her fifth goal to finish off the McKendree with by a score of 16-1.

Kelly Eastman (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) played the entire game in the cage, allowing one goal with four saves.
