(St. LOUIS, Mo., Feb. 8)- The McKendree University wrestling team picked up its fourth victory of the season in a 33-6 win at Missouri Baptist University on Friday night.

The Bearcats improved to 4-7 overall and will travel back to St. Louis, on Wed., February 13 to face Maryville University at 7 p.m.

McKendree jumped out to an early 15-0 lead after winning its first four matches of the evening. Sophomore Dylon Viglasky (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) started the night off on the right foot with a 12-7 decision win over Detorius Prayther at 125 pounds, and junior Brenden Murphy (Palos Park, Ill./Marian Catholic) followed with an 8-3 decision win over Chris Padilla at 133 pounds to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Freshman Steven Bradtmueller (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) edged Esmond Ford in a 5-4 decision at 141 pounds, and junior Devin Patterson (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon) pinned Alejandro Wajner in 1:13 at 149 pounds to give the Bearcats the early lead.

After losing a decision at 157 pounds, sophomore Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln Community) extended McKendree's lead to 21-3 with a forfeit win at 165 pounds, and junior Isaiah Gonzalez (Montgomery, Ill./Montini Catholic) followed with a 3-2 decision win at 174 pounds over A.J. Carter-Johnson to make the score 24-3.

The Bearcats dropped their match at 184 pounds by decision, but a forfeit win by sophomore Julian Smith (Florissant, Mo./Hazelwood Central) at 197 pounds, and a 2-1 decision win by sophomore Ross Janney (Daleville, Ind./Yorktown) over Luis Contreras, 2-1, at heavyweight sealed the win for McKendree 33-6.
