Box Score (GRAND JUNCTION, Colo., March 9)- The McKendree women's lacrosse team dropped its Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association opener at Colorado Mesa University on Saturday 15-4.
The Bearcats fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the WILA with the loss, and will travel to Alamosa, Colo., to play Adams State University on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. MST.
The Mavericks opened the game with four goals, but freshman midfield
Bree Suter (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) scored her ninth goal of the season on an assist by freshman midfield
Sarah Collins (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Colorado Mesa added seven more goals in the first half to take a 11-1 lead into the half.

Krystin Major (Arnold, Md./Indian Creek) opened the second half with a goal off an assist by
Marscia Davis (Springfield, IL/Southeast) to cut the deficit to 11-2, only for the Mavericks to respond with back-to-back goals to push their lead out to 13-2.
Major scored her second goal of the game with 6:48 remaining in the game to cut it to 13-3, but Colorado Mesa struck again with two goals to take a 15-3 lead.
Freshman attack/defense
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) scored McKendree's fourth and final goal of the game on a free position attampt with 25-seconds left in the game.
Freshman goalie
Kelly Eastman (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) had 10 saves in the loss and fell to 1-3 on the season.
