Box Score (SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Sep. 27)- The McKendree University women's soccer team struck first, but couldn't find the back of the net again to fall 2-1 at Drury University on Friday night.
The Bearcats fall to 3-3-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the loss, and will travel to Rolla, Mo., on Sunday, Sep. 29 to face Missouri S&T in a conference game at noon.
Senior forward
Chealsey Russell (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) scored her team-high fifth goal in the 17th minute give McKendree and early 1-0 lead.
The Bearcats held onto that lead until the 34th minute when Drury tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Ciara O'Brien.
Following the half, the Panthers took their first lead of the game in the 55th minute on a goal Caitlin Redmond off an assist by O'Brien. McKendree placed two shots on goal in the remainder of the half, but couldn't find the back of the net to fall 2-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) fell to 1-1 overall on the season and had three saves in the loss.
