The McKendree University women's soccer team begins its 2013 season on the road Thursday night, before returning home to host its home opener on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats travel to Marshall, Mo., on Thursday night to face Missouri Valley College at 7 p.m. The Vikings enter the game with an overall record of 1-1-1 this season.
McKendree will return to Lebanon to host its home opener against Baker University on Sunday at noon. The Wildcats are currently 2-2 overall this season.
SEASON OPENER: The Bearcats are looking to extend their streak of season opening wins to nine on Thursday. The last time McKendree lost a season opener was on August 29, 1998 in a 5-0 loss to University of Southern Indiana. The Bearcats are 12-5-3 all-time in season openers.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS: Missouri Valley already has three games under its belt, posting a 1-1-1 record to start the season. The Bearcats are 11-5 all-time against Missouri Valley and have won the previous three meetings.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Baker is currently 2-2 overall this season, but hosts Concordia University (Calif.) Thursday night before coming to Lebanon on Sunday. The Bearcats are 1-3-1 all-time against the Wildcats with their lone win coming on October 13, 2006 at home 2-0.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) currently ranks in the top 10 at McKendree in multiple career categories. She's tied for fifth with nine game-winning goals, sixth with 32 goals, and eighth with 72 points. Senior Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) is currently tied ofr 7th all-time at McKendree with nine wins and is 10th with 72 saves.
