(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 20)--
The McKendree University men's basketball team gets back to action Monday night when the University of Illinois Springfield comes to the Harry M. Statham Sports Center for a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The game will be carried live on the Bearcat Sports Network at www.mckbearcats.com/watchlive. Join Joe Zydlo and Kent Zimmerman for the call on the broadcast, which will begin with a 15-minute pre-game show.

Monday's tilt with UIS comes in the midst of a five-game home stand over a nine-day stretch for McKendree. The Bearcats were edged in two close games to open the home stand, falling 85-78 to No. 23-ranked Lewis University Thursday night before a 75-71 defeat against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. Against Lewis, the Bearcats held an 11-point lead late in the first half before the visiting Flyers rallied for the win. In Saturday's contest with UWP, McKendree pulled to within one possession on three different occasions in the final minute after trailing by as many as 14 points in the second half.

McKendree enters Monday's game with the Prairie Stars with an overall record of 6-7. The Bearcats are 0-5 in GLVC play. UIS comes to town with a record of 5-9 and a 1-5 slate in the GLVC. Illinois Springfield has dropped five of its last six outings, including home losses last week to Wisconsin-Parkside (94-81) and Lewis (86-73). The Prairie Stars are led by junior guard Jacob Williams, who is averaging 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Williams has connected on better than 40 percent of his attempts from three-point range while adding a team-best 14 blocked shots. Four UIS players are averaging in double figures for head coach Ben Wierzba, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Prairie Stars' program.

Senior guard Clinton Happe (Evansville, IN/F.J. Reitz) is on the verge of becoming the 48th member of the 1,000-point club at McKendree. Happe enters Monday's game with 989 career points, and needs just 11 to join the Bearcats' exclusive club. Former teammate John Steppe (Effingham, IL/St. Anthony) was the most recent McKendree player to reach the milestone when he scored his 1,000th point back on Nov. 14, 2012 in a game at Lincoln University.

McKendree and Illinois Springfield have met 18 times prior to Monday's contest. The Bearcats hold an 11-7 edge in the all-time series, which only dates back to the 2002-03 season. That was the year that the Prairie Stars' program first took the court. McKendree is 6-3 at the Statham Center versus UIS. The Prairie Stars won the most recent meeting between the two programs, 69-66, which occured last season, on Jan. 3, 2013.
