LEBANON, Ill. — Men's Basketball Head Coach George Suggs has announced two more player signees to put a stamp on the program's 2026-27 season roster, as Henry Wawszkowicz (Maitland, Australia) and David Gorianskii (Tralee, Ireland) have joined the fold.
Henry Wawszkowicz | DME Academy Wisconsin | Maitland, Australia
Coming in at 6'6", forward Henry Wawszkowicz comes to McKendree after recently competing at DMA Academy Wisconsin, and before that playing for Maitland Mustangs of the NBL1 East in Australia. Wawszkowicz is a two-way wing who has the ability to finish above the rim, cut off the ball, slash, and makes all the winning plays.
"McKendree felt like home from the start," said Wawszkowicz. "From when the coaches started to recruit me, to when I went on my official visit and met some of my teammates, it really felt like a family. One thing that made McKendree stand out was their culture, which was the biggest thing for me."
Last season for DME, Wawszkowicz was an factor at just about every element of the game, as he finished the year with averages of 21.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 3.2 blocks. In his time with the Mustangs, he was the club Junior Player of the Year, a Junior Premier League U18 All-Star, and at one point a finalist for the Basketball NSW U18 squad. During AAU season, Wawszkowicz was invited to play for Team Haliburton.
Wawszkowicz maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout his high school tenure and is still deciding on his anticipated major for the upcoming school year in Lebanon.
David Gorianskii | Carson-Newman University | Tralee, Ireland
Standing tall at an even 7'0", David Gorianskii makes his way to campus after three years at Carson-Newman University, a fellow NCAA Division II school in Jefferson City, Tennessee that competes as a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Before that, he began his collegiate career at Miles Community College for two seasons in Miles City, Montana, which competes in the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference within the NJCAA. His education prior to arriving in the United States was at Mercy Secondary School, Mounthawk in Tralee, Ireland.
Gorianskii is mobile and athletic and can play both the forward and center positions. He defends very well, plays above the rim, and has a good shooting touch.
"Coach Suggs stood out to me in the recruiting process as a genuine coach who runs a high-level program and culture, which I would love to be a part of and add to," said Gorianskii.
In his three-year tenure with the Eagles, Gorianskii totaled 16 points in 52 total minutes of action on 60.0% shooting while accumulating 10 rebounds, five assists, and seven blocks and helped his team earn a bid for the NCAA Tournament during the 2024-25 season. With the Pioneers for two seasons, he averaged a combined 5.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks on 66.7% shooting across 35 total games.
Off the court, Gorianskii held high academic standards throughout his career. He was a three-time Eagle Scholar recipient and a two-time NABC Honors Court at Carson-Newman, while achieving MDAC All-Academic at Miles.
Gorianskii will work towards his Master of Business Administration once he arrives at McKendree in the fall.
Wawszkowicz and Gorianskii will join the program's two other signees of Sean Lee and Jordan Taylor, which you can read more about HERE. The quad of newcomers will be alongside 11 returners for the 2026-27 season.

On Henry Wawszkowicz:
"Henry is the ultimate team first guy. It jumped off the film when we watched him. He plays hard on both ends of the floor, is a great team defender, and makes plays for others and himself on the offensive end. The number one thing in his recruitment we noticed was his desire to be a part of an elite team culture. When a player's values align with ours the way they did with Henry, it makes recruiting a very easy process."
On David Gorianskii:
"David was another no-brainer for what we wanted to add to our team. We have great young, returning core, and it was important that we went and found a veteran player who would not shy away from competing with and for these guys. David fits that mold. He has been at a winning DII program, and that experience will be invaluable for us as we look to make the next step within our own program. He has an opportunity to make an immediate impact when he gets to Lebanon, and we feel confident he will be another important part of our culture."
