(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 6)—The McKendree University hockey team fell in a 5-1 decision Friday night on the road against Robert Morris University-Peoria.
The Bearcats drop to 7-9-3 with the loss to the Eagles. McKendree and Robert Morris-Peoria will wrap up its two-game weekend series Saturday evening with a 7 p.m. faceoff at the Owens Center in Peoria.
After a scoreless first period in Friday's contest, Robert Morris-Peoria broke through with four goals in the second period to build a 4-0 advantage. Freshman forward
Jason Beilke, Jr. (Romeoville, IL/Plainfield Central), helped McKendree avoid the shutout with a shorthanded goal midway through the third period to bring the Bearcats within 4-1. The Eagles added an insurance goal moments later to account for the final margin.
