Women's Lacrosse Defeats Indiana Tech 12-11 For Second-Straight Win

Box Score (INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., March 1)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team withstood a late run by Indiana Tech on Saturday to hold on to a 12-11 win.

The Bearcats improve to 2-1 overall and will be off until Saturday, March 22 when they travel to Findlay, Ohio to face University of Findlay at 1 p.m. ET.

McKendree trailed 8-6 shortly into the second half, but rattled off five-straight goals to jump out to a 11-8 lead with 16:21 left to play. The Warriors scored three goals to tie the game with just over five minutes to play, but freshman attacker Hannah Schneider (Ellisville, Mo./Lafayette) scored off a pass from freshman midfielder Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) with 1:40 left to play to take a 12-11 lead and held on to earn the victory.

Freshman midfielder Morgan Cremen (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) led the Bearcats with four goals, while Schneider and Lelo had three goals a piece. Sophomore midfielder Shirley Boland (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) and freshman midfielder Ellen Kilkenny (Manchester, Mo./Parkway South) also each had one goal. Lelo and Schneider also had assists, with two and one, respectively.

Freshman goalie Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) started in the cage and played just over 36 minutes with four saves, while sophomore goalie Kelly Eastman (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) played the remainder of the game, improving to 1-0 on the season and grabbing one save.
