Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 19)- The McKendree University softball team was swept in a Great Lkes Valley Conference softball doubleheader on Saturday 6-0 and 5-1.

The Bearcats fall to 16-26 overall and 9-19 in the GLVC with the losses and will travel to Springfield, Ill., on Tuesday, April 22 for a GLVC doubleheader against University of Illinois Springfield at 2 p.m.

McKendree scratched out five hits in game one, but were unable to get them when they counted, leaving nine runners on base in the 6-0 loss. The game was scoreless after two innings, but the Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning and later added a single run in the bottom of the sixth. Junior pitcher Kelsie Stoszkus (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) fell to 6-8 overall and had two strikeouts in the loss, while freshman third baseman Hanna Branch (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) and senior rightfielder Kay Koonce (Greenville, Ill./Greenville) each had two hits at the plate.

The Bearcats cuts its deficit to 4-1 in the fourth inning of game two, but the hosts added another run in the bottom of the inning and McKendree was unable to generate any additional runs to drop game two 5-1. Trailing 4-0 after three innings, the Bearcats got on the board in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by junior first baseman Morgan Schulte (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) to cut the score to 4-1. Rockhurst extended its lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth, and McKendree had two on with one out in the top of the seventh, but couldn't bring them around to score to fall in game two. Junior pitcher Susan Goetze (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) fell to 4-6 and had three strikeouts in the loss, and sophomore Kaiti Bowen (Elliott, Ill./Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley) had two hits to lead McKendree at the plate in game two.
