Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., April 27)- Freshman midfielder
Morgan Cremen (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) tied the school record with six goals in an 18-13 women's lacrosse victory over Rockhurst University in the season finale.
Cremen tied the single-game mark set by
Sarah Collins (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) last season on March 16, 2013 against Adam State University. Sophomore midfielder
Shirley Boland (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy), and freshmen attacker
Hannah Schneider (Ellisville, Mo./Lafayette) and midfielder
Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) each added three goals a piece, while Schneider also had three assists. Sophomore attacker
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) and senior defender
Kahlyn Slominsky (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) both added single goals in the win. Boland also tied the single-game school record with seven draw controls in the contest. Sophomore goalie Kelley Eastman had 10 saves and improved to 2-3 overall this season.
McKendree opened the game with two goals, only for the Hawks to tie the game, 2-2, with 21:09 left in the first half. The Bearcats held a 4-3 lead, before McKendree scored five unanswered goals to jump out to a 9-3 lead with under six minutes to go in the first half. Rockhurst outscored the Bearcats, 3-2, in the remainder of the half to cut the score to 11-7 at the half.
McKendree regrouped in the second half to score three-straight goals to take a 14-7 lead out of the break. Rockhurst got the momentum swinging their way with four unanswered goals to cut the score to 14-11, but the Bearcats outscored the Hawks, 4-2, over the final 16:27 of the game, including three goals in the final four minutes of play.
The Bearcats end their season with an overall record of 3-7.
