Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 26)- The McKendree University men's soccer team struck first, but was unable to hold on on Friday night in a 2-1 loss to University of Indianapolis.

The Bearcats fall to 1-5-1 overall and 1-4 in the GLVC and will host Saint Joseph's College on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m.

McKendree got on the scoreboard first in the 10th minute of the game when senior defender Connor Cassidy (Glasgow, Scotland/St. Andrews) scored on a free kick from 40 yards out to take a 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds evened the score, 1-1, in the 40th minute off a header from Ngwese Ebangwese on a free kick by Patrick O'Brien.

Indianapolis broke open the tie game in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal by Daniel Wellman. McKendree was unable to tie the game and dropped its sixth one-goal game.

Junior goalkeeper Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) fell to 1-4-1 in goal and had nine saves in the loss.
