(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 14)- The No. 7 McKendree University wrestling team lost a home dual to No. 10 Lindenwood University 23-12.

The Bearcats fall to 7-3 overall and will travel to Somers, Wis., to compete at the Ranger Duals on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Following a loss at 125 pounds, sophomore Ryan Strope (Westphalia, Mo., Fatima) got McKendree on the board with a 6-3 decision win over Hunter Harralson at 133 pounds to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Lions won three-straight matches to extend their lead to 16-3, but a 16-9 decision win by NCAA II No. 2 Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill., Lincoln Community) at 165 pounds over Kyle Jolas brought the Bearcats to within 16-6 with four matches remaining.

McKendree suffered back-to-back losses at 174 and 184 pounds, before NCAA II No. 2 Nick Haferkamp (Lincoln, Ill., Lincoln Community) edged NCAA II No. 3 Kenny Breaux, 2-1, in the second tie breaker period to make the score 23-9. Junior heavyweight Coltyn Pease (Pittsfield, Ill., Pittsfield) closed out the dual with a 6-0 decision win over Jacob Borgmeyer.
