(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 2)- A goal by McKendree University junior Alexander Kunz (Berlin, Germany/Oscar-Tietz-Schule) in the 97th minute proved to be the difference on Friday in a 2-1 men's soccer win over University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

The Bearcats improve to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and will host Lewis University on Sunday for a conference match at 2:30 p.m.

The Rangers took an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on a free kick goal, and remained in the lead until junior Felipe Thompson (Santiago, Chile/Hurricane High School) tied the game in the 76th minute on a shot from 40 yards out over the UW-Parkside goalkeeper. The game stayed tied through the end of regulation, but a shot from inside the box by Kunz off a pass from junior Callum Kiddell (Auckland, New Zealand/Mount Albert Grammar School) made it through traffic and into the back of the net for the game-winning goal.

Senior goalkeeper Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) improved to 4-4 and had five saves in the win.
