(QUINCY, Ill., Oct. 23)- The McKendree University men's soccer team cut its deficit in half early in the second half on Friday, but were unable to battle back in a 4-1 loss at Quincy University.
The Bearcats fell to 5-9 overall and 5-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to Kirksville, Mo., on Sunday, Oct. 25 to face Truman State University at 12 p.m.
Quincy was the aggressor throughout the match and outshot McKendree 20-8. The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, and went into the half leading 2-0 after scoring a goal four-seconds before the half. The Bearcats cut the deficit in half in the 71st minute on a header goal by junior
Felipe Thompson (Santiago, Chile/Hurricane High School), but the Hawks struck again in the 73rd and 78th minutes to extend the lead to 4-1.
Senior goalkeeper
Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) fell to 5-9 overall and had four saves in the loss.
