(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 4)- The McKendree University women's soccer team cut its deficit to 2-1 with a second half goal, but lost 3-1 to Lewis University on Sunday.
The Bearcats fall to 5-4-2 overall and 4-3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and will travel to Rensselaer, Ind., on Friday, Oct. 9 to face Saint Joseph's College in a conference game at 5 p.m.
The majority of the first half was played even, until the Flyers took a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute. Lewis added another goal early in the second half in the 53rd minute to take a 2-0 lead, but McKendree senior
Cassie Kaiping (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) cut the score to 2-1 in the 59th minute on a pass from senior

Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert). Lewis extended its lead to 3-1 in the 82nd minute and the Bearcats were unable find the back of the net through the remainder of the game.

Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) had one save in the loss and fell to 5-4-2 on the season.
