Box Score (RENSSELAER, Ind., Oct. 9)- The McKendree University women's soccer team scored goals in the first and second half on Friday in a 2-0 win at Saint Joseph's College.

The Bearcats improve to 6-4-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with the victory, and will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday to face University of Indianapolis in a conference match at 12 p.m.

McKendree dominated the game offensively and held a 19-5 edge in shots, including 13 placed on goal. Freshman Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, Ill./Belleville West) scored her third goal of the season in the 36th minute off an assist from senior Cassie Kaiping (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. Senior Alyssa Patterson (Troy, Ill./Triad) added a goal for McKendree in the 58th minute on a pass from Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) to extend the lead to 2-0. Carroll, Patterson and Whittaker are all tied for the team lead with three goals each this season.

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) improved to 5-4-2 overall and earned her third shutout of the season with the victory.
