(RENSSELAER, Ind., Oct. 9)- The McKendree University men's soccer team scored with 18-seconds left in regulation to force overtime, but surrendered a goal in the 104th minute on Friday to lose a 3-2 at Saint Joseph's College.
The Bearcats fall to 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., for a conference match at University of Indianapolis on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Pumas struck first in the contest and took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 26th minute, but McKendree tied the game, 1-1, in the 40th minute on a goal by junior
Callum Kiddell (Auckland, New Zealand/Mount Albert Grammar School). The game remained knotted up, 1-1, until Saint Joseph's took the lead in the 82nd minute on a redirect. Junior
Felipe Thompson (Santiago, Chile/Hurricane High School) scored on a header off a corer kick with 18-seconds left to tie the game 2-2 and send it to overtime. Neither team could find the back of the net in the first overtime period, but the Pumas scored the game-winning goal in the 104th minute to end the game.
Senior goalkeeper
Scott Armistead (Auckland, New Zealand/Saint Peter's College) fell to 4-6 overall on the season and had nine saves in the loss.
