(GREAT FALLS, Mont., Dec. 4)- The McKendree University wrestling team remianed unbeatene in dual matches this season after winning all three of its matches on Friday at the Battle of the Rockies Duals hosted by University of Great Falls.

The Bearcats improved to 4-0 and will compete at the Battle of the Rockies Open on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m.

McKendree won its first five matches in its first dual against Simon Fraser University (B.C.) to cruise to a 40-6 win. Freshman Nick Lukanich (LaGrange, Ill., Marist), junior Kevin Cooper (Morning View, Ky., Simon Kenton), sophomore J.J. Filipek (Warrenton, Mo., Warrenton), freshman Luke Diener (Saint Peters, Mo., Francis Howell Central) and junior Coltyn Pease (Pittsfield, Ill., Pittsfield) all earned bonus points in their victories in the opening match of the day.

The Bearcats lost their opening match against Great Falls in the second dual of the day, but rattled off four-straight wins to regain control on their way to a 28-9 win. Filipek, Pease, and sophomore Darren Wynn (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) all posted bonus point victories, including a pin by Pease in 4:44 in the heavyweight match, to cap off the win over the Argos.

McKendree won nine of its ten matches, including its first eight of the dual, to roll to a 32-6 win over Minot State University. Lukanich, and sophomores Andrew Rettke (Washington, Ill., Washington Community) and Mech Spraggins Jr. (Belleville, Ill., Belleville West High School) all scored bonus points for the Bearcats in the win.
