(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 12)--The McKendree University men's basketball team will tip off its longest home stand of the 2014-15 season this weekend by hosting a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division foes. The Bearcats will take on Rockhurst University on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. before closing the week with a 3 p.m. contest on Saturday versus William Jewell College.
McKendree enters the week with an overall record of 9-12. The Bearcats are 2-11 in GLVC play, with both league victories coming at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center. McKendree owns GLVC wins over Quincy University (88-84 on Jan. 10) and the University of Southern Indiana (88-82 on Jan. 29). The Bearcats are looking to bounce back into the win column following a pair of league setbacks last week at Missouri S & T and Drury University.Â
Senior forward
Logan Carson (DuQuoin, IL/DuQuoin) is averaging 15 points per game while shooting 89.3 percent from the free throw line. Carson is second in the GLVC in free throw percentage, trailing only Trae Pemberton from Maryville University (91.1 percent). Senior forward

The Bearcats have completed the road portion of their 2014-15 regular season schedule. Beginning with Thursday's contest, McKendree will play its remaining five games of the regular season at the Statham Center. Following this weekend's action, the Bearcats will host three of their East Division foes -- the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Feb. 19, Lewis University on Feb. 21 at the University of Illinois Springfield on Feb. 26.Â
ABOUT ROCKHURSTThe Hawks bring a 6-15 overall record and a 2-11 GLVC mark into Thursday's game. Rockhurst has dropped five of its last six games, including a pair of home games last weekend to Wisconsin-Parkside (74-44) and Lewis (85-65). The Hawks are beginning a five-game road swing to close out their 2014-15 regular season slate against McKendree. Head coach Bill O'Connor has two players averaging in double figures, led by junior forward Dominique Washington at 11 points per outing. Senior forward Russell Burns has chipped in 10.4 points along with a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game.Â

ABOUT WILLIAM JEWELLThe Cardinals enter the weekend with a 9-12 season record and a 5-8 ledger in the GLVC. After winning two straight, William Jewell was defeated twice at home last weekend. The Cardinals were edged 74-73 by Lewis before suffering a 68-59 defeat at the hands of Wisconsin-Parkside. William Jewell will play at Illinois Springfield on Thursday evening before making the trip to Lebanon for Saturday's contest.Â

The combined 1,950 wins by Statham and Holley is second only to the 1,968 victories that will be on the court Saturday in Syracuse, N.Y., when the Orange play host to Duke University.
