Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., March 24)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team earned a 16-6 victory over Adams State University on Tuesday night before the start of conference play.
The Bearcats improve to 7-1 overall and will travel to North Canton, Ohio on Thursday, April 2 to open up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Atheltic Conference play at Walsh University at 6:30 p.m.
Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) and
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) both scored four goals with an assist in the victory, while
Mia Fiore (Eureka, Mo./Eureka High School) added three goals, and
Morgan Cremen (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) and
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) each had two goals. Hanah Schneider also scored one goal in the win.
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, Mo./Barat Academy) had a team-high two assists, while Fiore also had a team-high six draw controls.
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) improved to 7-1 overall and had one save in the win.
The game was tied 1-1 early, before the Bearcats rattled off four-straight goals to take a 5-1 lead. The Grizzlies cut the score to 5-2, but another four-straight goals by McKendree gave them a 10-2 lead at the half. The Bearcats extended their lead out to 13-2, and the teams traded goals for the remainder of the second half before McKendree came away with a 16-6 win.
